Jorma Kaukonen says, “Nobody writes in the idiom better than Roy Book Binder. He is a master player, singer, writer and teller of tales...true tales. He wrote ‘The Preacher Picked the Guitar’ and passed it on to me. It’s an honor to include it on my new album, Stars in My Crown.”
Roy has been on the road for 40 years. He started out as the driver and traveling companion for the legendary blind guitar playing genius, Rev. Gary Davis, back in the 1960s. He later discovered and revived the career of an old Medicine showman named Pink Anderson, who first recorded back in 1927. They both contributed plenty to Roy’s unique finger-picking guitar style, which is admired and studied at many guitar clinics and from his homespun teaching DVDs. Roy has met quite a cast of characters in his travels for sure, and you’ll here about them at his show. His performances have been described as magical, hilarious, and educational, not to be missed, with plenty of guitar pickin’, stories, and tales of a life well lived.
