Runaway Express celebrates the release of their new album Howlin' At The Moon with this special concert event at Swallow Hill. A staple in the Denver music community for over 20 years, Runway Express provides a cast of talented musicians. On stage this evening: Salli and Jim Ratts, Butch Hause on bass, Scott Bennett on guitar, Chris Stongle on drums, Dr. Daniel Jones on steel, Ernie Martinez on everything, and other guest musicians.
The album Howlin' at the Moon is a tip of the hat to anyone who allows their life to be motivated by the pursuit of music, poetry and art. The title track from the album has its own history. Originally written by band member Jim Ratts in 1998, it was recorded by renowned instrumentalist Sam Bush and reached number three on the National Bluegrass Charts at the time. Bluegrass Unlimited listed the song as number 79 on their “Top 200 Songs of the Decade.” The album is littered with gems like this, including songs written by Jim for the Dillards (International Bluegrass Music Association Hall of Fame inductees) and the Kingston Trio. See how these songs come across live at this special album release show!
