Laura Goldhamer & The Silvernail, Tanukis, Widow's Bane and Dovekins

Performing Saturday, April 10 at 8 PM:

It has been said that Laura Goldhamer & The Silvernail probably puts on one of the most intriguing, jaw-dropping shows in town. Put them on the same stage as indie-experimentalists Tanukis, Widow's Bane and their self-described sound that is "not unlike that of the earth itself being torn asunder," and the Dovekins' unique brand of psychedelic/western swing/bluegrass; and what you get is one of the most eclectic concerts in town.

Laura Goldhamer & The Silvernail most frequently perform as a trio of musicians incorporating banjo, guitar, drums (by Tyler Ludwick), keys (by Griff Snyder), voice and the unique touch of stop-frame video projections of animations that Goldhamer herself creates to illustrate her song lyrics.

Tanuki: (ta.nu.ki), pronounced : \tä-nü-kē\, noun, meaning: Japanese name for an animal known as Raccoon Dog in English.
In a Westword live concert review, the author describes the music of Tanukis as being, "simultaneously strong and delicate, at once gentle and ferocious...This act is broadening the sonic palette and dimensions of experimental chamber music by not trying to fit into that mold and yet somehow exemplifying what that can be."

Zombie folk-punkers Widow’s Bane present a shocking spectacle of sight and sound, with a truly original blend of Goth-infused roots music which Westword has described as, "falling somewhere between Tom Waits and the Misfits...arresting and addictive." Dedicated as much to their musicianship as to their shock-value (yes, the entire band outfits themselves in full zombie garb for each show), the imaginative, tradition-wise music of Widow’s Bane has this band buzzing on the lips of everyone living (and dead).

Hipster-folk outfit Dovekins has been playing some high-profile shows as of late, sharing the stage (and equally the crowd’s approval) with the likes of Paper Bird, Boulder Acoustic Society, and These United States to name a few. One zealous review of the group from Elephant Journal exclaims, "If they were a stock, I’d buy. Everyone at least in these here parts will know [them within] one year".
