Dougie MacLean is one of Scotland’s most gifted and successful contemporary singer/songwriters. His innovative work has created a modern interpretation of Scottish music with its fundamental values remaining rooted in the ancient Scots culture. Butterstone and Dunkeld in Perthshire, where MacLean grew up and now lives, have become base for his recording studio, record label (Dunkeld Records), publishing company (Limetree Arts & Music), and retail outlet.
Dougie’s songs have been heard all over the world, and have been recorded by many top artists. They’ve also been awarded gold discs, such as his music used in the movie, “The Last of the Mohicans” and for his songwriting and co-producing on Kathy Mattea’s album, Time Passes By. He has also been the focus of three films: “The Land — Songs of Dougie MacLean” (1993), “SongRoads — A Musical Friendship from Nashville to Dunkeld” (1997) and “Children of the Sea” (“Clann na Mara”) (2001).
